Marsan Foods began in 1969 in the family kitchen of our founder, Ken Jewett. Inspired by a story about Paris's finest restaurant flash-freezing meals for Air France's first-class passengers, Ken set out to bring the same level of quality and innovation to Canada.
With Ken as master chef, his sons Graeme and James on the production line, wife Edie overseeing quality assurance, and liquid nitrogen as a regular garage fixture, the family crafted meals that were flash-frozen and delivered in the family station wagon.
Our first major opportunity came in the early 1970s as the lead supplier to Canada's first “kitchen-less hospital,” cementing our long-term commitment to the healthcare sector.
Today, we operate two federally inspected, world-class facilities in Toronto, Ontario. Under Graeme and James's leadership, Marsan Foods continued to grow until its acquisition in 2025—always guided by the principle:
